The Walden Club recently hosted a soft-launch of their brunch menu.
Resisting my usual procrastinator tendencies, I made my reservations for this brunch a little over a week in advance. I was lucky because they sold out.
Walking into their restaurant, I realized why this was an RSVP only event. Between the view, the live band, the glistening, ballroom-style chandeliers, and the fireplaces decorated with their signature W, I felt like I had been transported to an entirely different world—one where I knew “important people” and didn’t worry about the mortgage.
Despite the elegance of the restaurant and jaw-dropping view of the best bits of Chattanooga, the menu was surprisingly affordable (about $10-16 per entrée). And—gasp—they served bottomless mimosas, poinsettias (champagne and cranberry juice), and/or magnolias (champagne and grapefruit juice) for only $8.
The meal started with free blueberry scones, which were scrumptious. Then came the beverages.
For food, we ordered the Crab Cake Benedict (for me) and the Sunrise Burger.
My Crab Cake Benedict was honestly one of the best I’ve had in Chattanooga. Full of flavor and seasoning but not over-complicated by excessive ingredients. And the grits, which I tend to enjoy but rarely seek out, were to die for. Again, simple but flavorful.
After our plates were cleared we silently lingered at the table for a few minutes longer, just taking in the view and a few extra pours of mimosa.
The Walden Club is the kind of place that makes returning to normal life seem a little duller immediately after. But if this becomes a regular offering for Chattanooga, I’ll be sure to be back—even if they have to occasionally plead for me to go home and leave the table and drinks behind.
If you missed this soft-launch, don’t fret. According to their Facebook page, there are more to come.
